landLAB collaborated with architects Killefer Flammang on the expansion of the Westerly school in Long Beach, California. landLAB was involved in the original site planning for the expansion of the K-8 school that features sustainable design elements including bioswales, infiltration areas, and interpretive wetlands. The school expansion will be in two phases with the first phase based on a new gymnasium and arts and music facility that are carefully integrated into the site. The design features numerous outdoor spaces for art installation, play experience, school gatherings, outdoor classrooms, in a setting of native, low water use plant material.
