landLAB collaborated with Myklebust Company on the resort masterplan for Clearwater Bay, a one kilometer square resort site east of Yalong Bay on the south coast of Hainan Island, China. The new resort rests prominently on approximately 1000 meters of beach frontage, adjacent to numerous proposed five star resorts located along a 12 mile stretch of white sand beach. The resort masterplan de-emphasizes the use of the automobile, providing a network of nature trails, pedestrian walkways and golf cart paths connecting the various types of residential unit types and densities, retail areas and open space amenities to the beach. Palm tree-lined “Ocean Boulevard” is the main vehicular drive along the ocean frontage parcels with glossy retail shops below podium level pools that serve the Ocean View Villas, Beach Villas and the Beach Towers. Pedestrian land bridges connect the interior villages to the public beach front plazas where the user can enjoy the kilometer long shoreline park and beach front boardwalks, all creating a very “South Beach vibe” along the gorgeous Yalong Bay.
